7. What happened the economy there?
This question may be answered in a similar fashion to the following video:
8. Do you eat loads of Potatoes??
You will definitely get asked about potatoes or be told a potato joke. Contrary to the opinions of some, the Irish actually include more in their diet that just potatoes for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
9. “Do you hate English people?”
Quite a common question, especially for ex-colonies such as Ireland that have experienced hardship under English/British rule but for the vast majority of people, we have moved on and any jokes about the English are just friendly banter! No hard feelings!
10. Do you not drink lots of Guinness??
If you are at a bar and get any drink that is not Guinness you may be interrogated and asked to explain your reasoning from departing from Ireland’s national drink!
11. Are you a Catholic or Protestant?
Nobody really cares what religion you are in Ireland apart from some deprived areas of the north. Consequently, we hate to be asked this one.
12. “Are you from Scotland??”
Northerners may be asked this occasionally. Some parts of the north you can understand if they confuse you for Scottish, but you are probably a bit insulted.
13. “Have you seen a leprechaun?”
Not even gonna write a description for this one.
14. “What are you doing for St Patty’s Day?”
It’s Paddy’s day not Patty’s day!! Come on!!
15. “I’m Irish too!” (said with a thick American accent)
Anyone with any Irish relatives or has a great-great-great Granny will claim to be Irish in some way! We don’t blame them, after all, it’s great to be Irish!
