7. Chiefs make it two in a row – back-to-back Super Bowl victories
Super Bowl LVIII was broadcast to a total of 150 countries worldwide, with Antarctica being the only continent to miss out.
The estimated 62.5 million viewers worldwide were treated to a spectacle that saw the Kansas City Chiefs become the first team since the Patriots in 2004 to win two titles back to back.
It was a game that had to go into overtime to determine a result, with the Chiefs emerging as the eventual 25-22 victors. Naturally, Patrick Mahomes was the MVP, who notched up at least 172 rushing yards.
6. Mahomes the machine goes on breaking records – one of the most unforgettable moments during the NFL 2023/24 season
We know he’s phenomenal, but the all-star QB also made it a season when he smashed through several records, as well as picking up his third Super Bowl medal.
He became the fastest-ever player to reach 25,000 passing yards, a feat he’s achieved in 83 games. He also became the youngest-ever player to have defeated all 31 other teams in the NFL at the age of 28 years and 21 days.
This broke Tom Brady’s record of achieving the same at the grand old age of 30 years and 86 days.
5. Swifties flock to Arrowhead – the biggest thing in pop right now
It’s not exactly news when thousands of Taylor Swift fans converge on a sports stadium – but usually, it’s to see her perform.
However, the Chiefs’ fan numbers increased greatly when the news broke that the billionaire singer was dating tight-end Travis Kelce.
This has been great news for the NFL, which has long been attempting to attract new demographics to the sport. It’s also been pure gold dust for the Chiefs’ profile on social media.
4. It really was farewell to Tom Brady – it’s time to say goodbye
He’d teased fans with his departure a couple of times. But after 24 years with the Patriots and, latterly, the Buccaneers, the GOAT finally decided that his day was done.
Brady made the announcement not with a major press conference, but via a video filmed on the beach in North Miami. Still, it was certainly one of the most unforgettable moments during the NFL 2023/24 season.
The event included a game of beach football featuring his former tight end Rob Gronkowski. Later, a bottle of sand taken from the beach where the video was made sold for a six-figure sum on eBay.
3. Aaron Rodgers’ shaky start at the Jets – a heartbreaking beginning
There was huge excitement when Aaron Rodgers signed for the New York Jets from the Green Bay Packers.
It was all set for a triumphant entrance. Then, when he took to the field in the Week One game against the Bills carrying the stars and stripes, everything was going to plan.
However, on the fourth snap of the game, the same thing happened to his Achilles tendon. Out of action for the season, fans were denied seeing his legendary Championship Belt touchdown celebration.
2. Puka Nacua starts as he means to go on – beating records left, right, and centre
Rookie Los Angeles Rams wide receiver may have been a fifth-round pick in the 2023 draft. However, he’s quickly shown what a boon to the team he will be.
Records have tumbled all around him, with 15 receptions in the first game, beating the previous maximum of 14. He also became the first-ever rookie to claim ten catches and 100 receiving yards in both of the season’s first two games.
He capped it off with 25 receptions in the first two games of a professional career, easily beating Earl Cooper’s record of 19.
1. Ravens beat Rams in a tense OT thriller – a jaw-clenching victory
The Rams also featured in what many have been calling the game of the season. Thus, making for one of the most unforgettable moments during the NFL 2023/24 season.
Back in December, the Baltimore Ravens took their place at the head of the AFC North following a thrill-a-minute encounter. It took overtime for them to prevail.
Tied at 31-31, it was a 76-yard touchdown by a determined Tylan Wallace that sealed the victory over the Rams. On the way, he had to break through no less than three tackles. Not to mention, he was only there because Devin Duverney was benched with a back injury.
As Wallace later commented, “This was a perfect time for me to put the way game away. I saw a crease, and I just took it.”
So, here’s looking forward to many more exciting, iconic moments in the 2024/25 season – plus many more records being broken.
