Ireland’s favourite Mexican joint, Boojum, is launching its 2023 Freshers campaign by giving one lucky student the opportunity to win a holiday of a lifetime to Mexico for them AND a friend.

Boojum to gift one lucky student an epic adventure to Mexico.

Students of Belfast, Dublin, Cork, Galway, and Limerick, listen up! After dominating Freshers’ Fairs across the country over the last few years, Ireland’s favourite Mexican chain is back and about to outdo itself again. This year, Boojum is giving one lucky student and a friend the opportunity to take a once-in-a-lifetime, all-expenses-paid trip to Mexico. After coming through the last few years of travel restrictions, and the added pressure from the cost-of-living crisis, the student-staple brand wants to give back to its loyal customers and reward them with this unforgettable prize. In addition, all students across Ireland will be in with a chance of winning £50/€50 worth of Boojum credit in daily giveaways via the brand’s app.

Speaking at the launch of the campaign, David Maxwell, Boojum’s Managing Director said, “Students are the backbone of Boojum and we always strive to show them how much their loyalty means to us. After the success of last year’s ‘Fund Your Studies’ campaign, we knew we needed to do something even bigger and better this year, and that is exactly what Boojum has done.”

“After a challenging few years with the pandemic and the cost-of-living crisis, a holiday anywhere at the moment may be completely out of the question for some students. By entering our competition, one lucky student, and a mate, will win the opportunity to go on their dream trip to Mexico. Whether they want to live it up in a luxury five-star resort in Cancun or kick back in a beach shack in Tulum, we’ll be on hand to help them create the ultimate holiday. Not only that but the lucky winners will also bag themselves free Boojum for an entire year. With the Mexico trip and the free burritos for 12 months, that’ll be a year for the books!”

Paul McCullagh, Head of Marketing at Boojum, said, “Freshers is a date in the diary that we never miss; in fact, we plan for months in advance! As well as returning students, many new faces will flock to our stores to get their hands on their first Boojum burrito and never look back. This year we wanted to do something different with our Freshers campaign, and after speaking with many students it became apparent that travel was still a top priority. We knew we wanted to do something on a global scale with the ultimate trip to Mexico up for grabs, completely on us. The winning students can ignore the rainy Irish weather and plan a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Mexico. They’ll be swapping their student accommodation for an all-expenses paid vacation and studying abroad Boojum style!”

Set up in 2007, the Mexican-inspired chain currently has fourteen stores across five cities in both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland after quickly establishing itself as one of the most popular fast-food restaurants across the island, especially for the student market. The Belfast-born restaurant chain has recently joined the Azzuri Group family which runs the Zizzi and Ask Italian chains, with plans to expand across the Irish Sea to student-centric cities in 2024.
