Praise for Doorsteps & other Belfast cafes, pubs and eateries – his favourite spots for a coffee, a pint, and some grub
In his 2022 article for the Financial Times, Dornan reprimanded London for having “the worst sandwiches in the world”.
He said, “They’re always really sparing – but in Belfast, we just ram them full so that you can’t get your mouth around them.
“Doorsteps has long been an institution (the clue is in the name) – it used to keep me and my mates alive”.

30 years of Doorsteps – “We are all bizz”
Amy McGlinchey previously spoke to Belfast Live ahead of Doorsteps’ 30th anniversary, saying the team were “ecstatic” to be recognised on such a huge scale in Dornan’s Financial Times guide.
Amy said, “Being here as long as we are, the staff probably working in here now probably wouldn’t remember him coming in because he did when he was in school but for a big actor like that to compare our sandwiches to those in London, who you’d think would have big upscale offerings, was brilliant.
“We were all bizz.”
Comments under their recent post about Dornan coming into the shop all sing the praises of the establishment with messages like, “Best sandwiches”, “Omg Doorsteps is the best”, and “Love doorsteps, love Jamie”.
