A Limerick GAA club is set to present international popstar Taylor Swift with a gift that she will be sure to remember – her very own jersey!

A GAA club from Limerick is hoping to thank famous singer Taylor Swift for her ongoing support of them by presenting her with a jersey during her next Irish visit. During Swift’s last visit in 2018, she stayed at the luxurious Glin Castle and went viral for buying a lotto ticket for Glin GAA Club.

Amazingly Taylor Swift has continued her support for Glin GAA Club as she has continued to buy lotto tickets from the club ever since.

Glin GAA Club is a popular Gaelic Athletic Association club which, as the name suggests, is based in Glin, County Limerick, Ireland. The club was founded in 1898 under the name of Glin Emmetts in honour of the famous 1798 Irish revolutionary Robert Emmett.

The club’s main local rivals are Newcastle West, Mountcollins, and Fr. Caseys. In recent years the club has experienced much success in the West Limerick Junior Football Championship.

Hugh Dunne, a Glin GAA club member who organizes the club lotto, told The Mirror that Swift continues to purchase tickets “from time to time” but has not yet won the competition.

“We’d love to give her a jersey or something like that to say thanks. There are plenty of Taylor Swift fans down here who will be hoping to go see her next year,” explained Dunne.

Dunne added that while, at the time, a large number in the club didn’t know who Swift was, she did seem very popular with what he described as the “younger crew”.

Taylor Swift is an American singer-songwriter who first began songwriting professionally at the age of 14. Nowadays, Swift is undoubtedly one of the most prominent cultural figures of the 21st century and has a massive influence on the music industry.

Her success has been credited to a variety of factors, such as her skills in songwriting, artistic reinventions, and musical versatility.

When Swift stayed at Glin Castle with her then-boyfriend, Joe Alwyn, they reportedly booked out the castle for two weeks at Christmas in 2018. It was said that she allegedly fell in love with the county of Limerick when she visited.

Swift recently announced to much acclaim from her Irish fanbase that she plans to play two gigs in Dublin as part of the European leg of her Eras Tour.

The announcement caused a frenzy for tickets among Swift’s Irish fans. Tickets for her performances won’t officially go on sale to the general public; instead, fans were required to register to be in with a chance to gain access to the much-anticipated concert.

“I can’t wait to see so many of you on The Eras Tour next year at these new international dates,” Swift said on social media after announcing her European dates. The two Dublin concerts are set to take place on 28 and 29 June, 2024, at the Aviva Stadium.
