Lonely Irish farmer places ‘ad for a wife’ in local pub

It’s coming up to the most romantic time of the year, and even our beloved Irish farmers are looking for love.

With local watering holes being closed for the best part of two years, one pub in Meath has gone above and beyond to help one of its regulars find true love.

In the age of mobile dating apps, it may seem unconventional to use traditional means to find love. Still, that didn’t stop one Irish farmer from putting his dating fate in the hands of his local pub.

While it may be unusual, one lonely Irish farmer has placed an ad for a wife in his local pub.

Pub owner Paddy Swan has taken himself up to be somewhat of a matchmaker.

After noticing his single customers were lonelier than ever after two years of lockdowns, he decided to take matters into his own hands.

This means an installation of a gas advertisement outside his pub stating, “Lonely hearts farmer seeks wife 20-60 ish”. Interested? Read on to find out more.

What’s the catch? – only a particular breed of woman need apply

The sign has listed some essential criteria to help weed out the weak. As well as being somewhere between the age bracket of 20 and 60, the woman must be willing to cook and clean.

If that’s not enough, the lonely Irish farmer’s ad for a wife states she must be able to drive a tractor. And, above all else, she be a Meath supporter.

Being a Meath supporter is non-negotiable, and any other supporters need not apply at this time. Does this sound like you? If so, we urge you to contact the Meath bar.

The man in question has road frontage (always a plus) and 40 milking cows to keep you in dairy products for the rest of your life.

He still lives with his mammy, which shows he has a caring heart. However, he definitely needs someone to cook and clean for him as he’d be used to mammy doing that.

While living with your mammy might be a drawback, we bet the house is big enough for you all to get along in harmony.

Looking for love – local pub goes above and beyond to help patrons

Now that pubs are reopened, it’s great to see eligible farmers trying out their pick up lines on potential suitors.

Pub owner Paddy Swan spoke about the lonely farmer’s ad for a wife in an interview with Beat.

He said, “A local man asked us for help getting a date for St Valentine’s Day, so we’re doing the best for him, as only we know how.”

Mr Swan says he’s delighted to be able to help his loyal customers in such a manner.

What are you waiting for? – don’t waste your time

If the woman in the advert sounds like you, we urge you to contact the bar staff at Swans of Curragha immediately.

Did we mention that there’s a free pair of wellies included for successful applicants? If nothing else draws you in, we’re sure this will.

This could be the love of your life, and you’re not going to find him on Tinder. So, the lonely Irish farmer has made the effort with his ad for a wife. Now it’s your turn to get going!
