If you didn’t already know, Ireland will have its very own version of Oktoberfest this year. Oktoberfeis combines the best of Bavarian and Irish heritage; you will certainly not want to miss out.

Oktoberfeis – a look inside Ireland’s answer to Oktoberfest 2023.

Oktoberfest is one of the most well-known beer festivals in the world, originating in Munich, Germany, and celebrated each year with copious amounts of Bavarian beer.

Yet this year, there will be no need to buy a plane ticket because Ireland will host its very own Oktoberfeis, featuring a mash-up of the world’s two most iconic drinking nations. With gigs galore and craic to be had, this festival with a twist is much anticipated.

Here’s all you need to know!

Hold on to your leprechaun hats and brace yourselves for an Oktoberfest like no other; this Irish/Bavarian beer festival will be called Oktoberfeis, a clever fusion of Irish and German.

This September, Ireland will proudly introduce its very own festival extravaganza, spanning across ten venues countrywide, so no matter where you are in Ireland, you can get involved.

Apart from being great craic, the festival aims to fuse the best of the legendary Munich Oktoberfest with a flare of Irish culture, and the outcome is bound to be a hit this year.

Featuring a host of Irish bands, traditional food, fantastic pints, and competitions, Oktoberfeis will be a festival like no other.

Described as “the best of Bavarian revelry with the rich heritage of Irish traditions”, the beer festival is due to mix the iconic party vibes of Munich Oktoberfest with traditional heritage from Ireland, and this is a festival you won’t want to pass up on.

Founder Craig Reynolds said the festival would be a hit for everyone looking to have a good time: “Oktoberfeis will cater to everyone, from old school Irish trad fanatics to mainstream festival goers just looking for a good night out. Everyone will have a great time, rest assured.

“All of the best of Ireland combined with what we love most about the German Oktoberfest,” he added, “such as the long biergarten tables, steins of beer, and the best of Irish music and entertainment”.

So mark your calendars; the festival dates for this year are as follows:

    • Carrick-on-Shannon, The Landmark Hotel – Saturday, 9 September
    • Arklow, Arklow Bay Hotel – Saturday, 16 September
    • Castlebar, Royal Theatre – Saturday, 16 September
