The kangaroo was last seen going in the direction of Omagh on the main Gortin Road on Sunday evening.
A kangaroo is currently on the loose in County Tyrone after escaping from its enclosure at the Glenpark Estate just outside of Omagh on Sunday.
Owner Richard Beattie said that two wallabies arrived at the estate at the weekend, but one was startled and escaped.
The wallaby that escaped was last seen heading in the direction of Omagh on the main Gortin Road yesterday (21 August) evening.
Kangaroo on the loose in Omagh – appeal to the public for help
Richard Beattie has issued an appeal for anyone who has seen the kangaroo to get in touch with him at Glenpark Estate.
He said, “Two wee wallaby kangaroos came yesterday, they came about 3 pm, and we put them into the enclosure.
“One of them jumped over the enclosure, and the last time it was seen was a quarter of a mile down the road from the estate. We’re still looking for it now.
“It happened in the middle of our Sunday carvery serving, so it was all very busy. I got a call from the groundsman to say he was away. Hopefully we will be able to find him. He went in the direction of Omagh.”
The Balmoral Show – a momentous occasion
In May, it was a historic day as these very kangaroos made an appearance at the Balmoral Show. This was the first time kangaroos had ever made an appearance at the show along with the usual animals.
Richard Beattie had brought the animals to the show, saying, “We come to the show every year and we wanted to try and promote our business, to try and bring something new into the show.”
Apparently, camels were on the cards, but they eventually decided on kangaroos.
Keep your eyes peeled – bring home the missing wallaby
The wallabies at Glenpark Estate are just over one year old. It is understood they grow to around 18 inches (45 cm) tall.
Beattie said of the missing kangaroo, “We are hoping to get the word out so somebody might come across it. It’s just a matter of where and when. We have a good enclosure here, but something must have just startled them.”
