The Lord of the Rings is regarded as one of the best and most influential film franchises ever made. Grossing $2.991 billion worldwide, it is among the highest-earning film series of all time.

The visit to the museum had a special significance for Bernard Hill in particular. Hill famously played the role of Captain Edward Smith in the hit movie Titanic.

In addition to the museum, Elijah Wood, Bernard Hill, and Sean Astin all happened to be in Belfast to attend Northern Ireland Comic Con, which is quickly becoming a very popular event on the Comic Con circuit.

Besides the famous The Lord of the Rings trio, hundreds of other famous faces from the world of film, TV, and comics attended the event in Lisburn.

Titanic Belfast is the world’s largest Titanic visitor experience and has become an absolute must-see for anyone visiting Belfast.

The popular attraction even received the award for the World’s Leading Tourist Attraction at the World Travel Awards in 2016. It is located beside the exact place where the Titanic was designed, constructed, and launched in 1912.

The Titanic Belfast Museum tells the story of the Titanic. It follows the ship all the way from its conception in Belfast through its construction and launch. It culminates in the ship’s maiden voyage and tragic fate.

The Facebook post by Titanic Belfast read: “We were absolutely delighted to welcome Lord of the Rings actors Elijah Wood, Sean Astin, and Bernard Hill to Titanic Belfast yesterday!

“Bernard also famously played Captain Smith in the film Titanic, so it was a pleasure to be able to show them all around the birthplace of the famous ship here in Belfast!”.

The self-guided Titanic Experience includes over nine interactive galleries. The museum offers visitors the opportunity to explore the sights, smells, sounds, and stories of RMS Titanic. It is also a great insight into the city and people who made her into the impressive ship she was.
