Daragh, AKA The Guinness Guru, has grown a huge social media following by travelling around Ireland to find the best pints of the black stuff.

The Guinness Guru has been forced to postpone an important business trip to Limerick after testing positive for COVID-19 on a lateral flow test.

The Guinness expert had planned to visit Limerick to sample the Guinness on offer throughout the city. However, things didn’t quite go to plan.

Daragh revealed the news on his Instagram story this morning, apologising to the people of Limerick for letting them down.

Plans postponed – it’s a sad day for the people of Limerick

The Guinness Guru took to Instagram this morning to reveal that he was forced to postpone the important business trip to Limerick.

He said, “So, I’ve just had an interesting few hours. I was driving down to Limerick, all going well.

“Just since this morning, I wasn’t feeling great. Just felt a bit tired, had a bit of a headache. Didn’t think much of it.”

Feeling hungry, he stopped off at a service station to grab a sandwich for the road. While there, he decided to pick up an antigen test just to be safe.

He continued, “I did [the test] in the car. Bosh… positive. Hashtag positive tests only.

Only suffering mild symptoms – Guinness from home for the next few weeks

Daragh revealed that he is feeling “grand now”, only suffering mild symptoms of the virus.

However, he said that he couldn’t take the risk to go after testing positive for the COVID-19. So, unfortunately, the Guinness Guru was forced to postpone his important business trip to Limerick

Explaining the situation further, he said, “I’ve booked in for a PCR test tomorrow, would be great if that was negative.”

For now, however, it looks like the Guinness Guru will be forced to enjoy his favourite drink from the comfort of his own home.

Apologising to the people of Limerick for having to postpone his trip, he said he hoped to be able to visit after Christmas.

He told Instagram, “So, I rang the hotel in Limerick. They said no bother; you can reschedule.

“Sorry, Limerick lads. You’ve been on to me for yonks, and you’re just going to have to wait a little bit longer now. Might be able to do it between Christmas and New Year or else just in the New Year. So that’s the update.”

Finishing the sad news on a positive note, he said, “Hashtag positive vibes only, hashtag positive tests only. And let’s just see what this test says tomorrow. Great craic.”

The Guinness Guru has gained an impressive following across social media for his in-depth reviews of the best pints of Guinness from all around Ireland and further afield.

From Dublin to Belfast, Cork to Donegal, and everywhere in between, Daragh has tried to find the best Guinness in Ireland. But we guess Limerick will just have to wait a little while longer!

We wish the Guinness Guru a speedy recovery and hope he’ll be back to showing us where to find the best Guinness in Ireland soon.
