Forget baby names, these are the most popular names for your cat in 2023, and one popular Irish name is among them.

While many new parents are contemplating names for their newborns, many potential cat parents are rummaging through magazines, blogs, and social media posts to find the perfect cat name for their new kitty.

While all of these names are utterly adorable, we can’t help but beam with pride as an Irish boys’ name takes the top spot.

Think you know what it is? Let’s take a look.

Choosing a name for your pet can be tricky since it’s the name you will be yelling out for years to come, but now with this list of the most popular cat names in 2023, that decision could be made easier.

The list features a range of diverse names, each with its own character and meaning, but we can’t get over the cuteness overload of these potential cat names, and you won’t either.

Among the list, there were some awesome names like Milo which means ‘beloved’ in Slavic, Leo which means ‘lion’ in Hebrew, Charlie which translates as ‘freeman’, and the Disney-related name Simba, all of which have been voted among the world’s most popular cat names in 2023.

The number one spot, however, was given to a well-known Irish name, and it is an ideal name for your new feline friend.

According to the cat names list, the Irish boy name Oscar took the number one spot as being the most popular, and that is no surprise since it is a popular baby boy name, too, for the same reasons.

Oscar, which means ‘deer lover’ or ‘champion warrior’, is perfect for those looking for a solid and authentic Irish name for their kitty.

Other names among the most popular included Loki, Ziggy, Jasper, and Merlin, all of which are clear contenders for the most popular cat names in 2023.

New cat parents can be inspired by these excellent choices, whether you get one cat, two cats, or ten cats.

Reports have previously shown that cat owners are more likely to own two cats on average, so there is no better time to start planning the names of your potential kittens, especially with these adorable options.

If a sweet kitty has entered your life, you may perhaps consider a magical Merlin, a snuggly Charlie, or a king like Simba, but whatever you choose, you cannot go wrong with one of these possibilities.
