Irish competition offers chance to win Dublin home or €500,000 cash

One of Ireland’s most popular competition companies has launched its biggest-ever draw, offering a four-bedroom Dublin home or a €500,000 cash alternative, alongside a €2.5 million prize pot.

Ireland’s prize competition scene has stepped up a level as Blaa Giveaways reveals its biggest-ever draw. At the centre of it all is a four-bedroom detached home in Donabate, or the option to take €500,000 in cash instead.

We spoke directly to founder and owner Paul Leonard, who said the buzz around this competition has been unlike anything they have seen before.

“We really love the excitement of a big draw, there’s nothing like it. The office is always buzzing coming into the week of a big competition, none more so than this one,” he said. “It will be, by some distance, the biggest prize someone has ever won with Blaa Giveaways.”

A house prize that reflects the times – what people really want

The decision to give away a house was a deliberate one. According to Leonard, it reflects exactly what people are hoping for right now.

“A house, particularly in the current climate, is for us the best prize we can offer. It’s what everyone ultimately wants,” he explained. “The excitement of thinking we get to literally give someone a house on Sunday never really sinks in. It’s mad.”

The property itself has plenty going for it. Located in a quiet cul-de-sac just 1.5km from Donabate Beach, the three-storey home backs onto a golf course, offering privacy and sunlight throughout the day.

Leonard added, “It’s incredibly hard to find suitable properties, not just in Dublin but across Ireland. This one had everything. Location, privacy, and no concern about future developments affecting it.”

A €2.5 million prize pot – one of the biggest ever seen

What sets this competition apart is the scale. The total prize pot is worth over €2.5 million, with more than 1 million instant-win opportunities.

“The scale is definitely what makes this one different,” Leonard said. “The overall prize pot is over €2.5 million, including both the main prize and all the instant wins. Someone has already won a purple Lamborghini Huracán instantly. It’s mad altogether.”

Alongside the house or €500,000 cash alternative, there are prizes including cars, large cash amounts, tech, holidays, and more. It is easily one of the biggest competitions seen in Ireland in recent years.

Life-changing moment ahead – anticipation building for Sunday

With close to one million tickets already sold, anticipation is building quickly ahead of the live draw on Sunday, 19 April. For Leonard and his team, the real focus is on the impact it will have on the winner.

“We say it all the time, it’s never lost on us how big this will be for Sunday’s winner. It is the definition of life-changing,” he said. “We love what we do and always enjoy the journey and the people we meet along the way.”

For anyone still considering entering, his message is straightforward. “If the house is something you’d love, or even the €500,000 cash alternative, get involved if you fancy it. As we always say, someone has to win it.”
