As we reach the end of 2021, the world’s most famous fashion magazine rounds up its favourite looks of the year. And one Irish star has made the list.
Derry Girls star Nicola Coughlan has been named in Vogue’s ‘Best Dressed Women’ list for 2021.
Ranking alongside big names, such as Kate Moss, Lady Gaga, Zendaya, and Rihanna, the Irish actress has sure made her mark on the world of fashion.
After a hugely successful year in her acting career, this must be the icing on the cake for the Irish-born actress.
Dressed to impress – best-dressed women of 2021
The magazine took a look back at some of the actresses best looks from throughout 2021.
From her stunning Valentino dress at the TV BAFTAs in June to her Christian Siriano at the SAG Awards in April, Coughlan has proven she knows how to be red carpet ready.
These looks impressed the fashion experts, who named the Derry Girls star one of Vogue’s ‘Best Dressed Women’ of the year.
Finding out the news, the actress took to Instagram to express her shock and gratitude.
She wrote, “As if @voguemagazine’s Best Dressed Women of 2021 are Lady Gaga, Zendaya, and a woman who wore pyjama bottoms to work yesterday (me).
“This is an insane honour and something I owe completely to @aimeecroysdill; my legendary stylist and epically cool pal.”

The magazine gushed over Nicola’s style, complimenting her “whimsical” style throughout the year.
Accompanying pictures of some of her best ‘fits, they wrote, “Nicola Coughlan stole our hearts somewhere between Bridgerton season one and her British Vogue ‘In The Bag’ video, during which she delivered the inimitable line: ‘You’ve got to walk into the club purse first.’
“The always-cheerful star has carved out herself a niche in whimsical dresses from London’s finest, from Simone Rocha to Molly Goddard (and yes, she will wear a cardi with her tumbling tulle, thank you very much). Bring on the season two press tour.”
Her red carpet glamour is far from the Thornhill College uniform she wears on screen as the loveable Clare Devlin in Derry Girls. Personally, we can’t wait to see what she pulls out of the bag in 2022.
Other fashion favourites – the best-dressed women of 2021
The Derry Girls star was joined by some other fashionable women in Vogue’s ‘Best Dressed Women’ list for 2021.
Stars such as Lady Gaga, Dua Lipa, Cynthia Erivo, Zoë Kravitz, and Angelina Jolie also impressed with their fashion choices.
The last we heard, Coughlan was busy filming for her upcoming releases in 2022. We can’t wait for season two of Bridgerton and the third and final season of Derry Girls.
Fans of the Channel 4 sitcom were heartbroken when Lisa McGee announced earlier this year that season three would be the last.
However, we can’t wait to see our favourite Derry schoolgirls – and boy – take to the screen once more in 2022.
