One of the main traits that make Irish people unique is their strong community spirit. For as long as Ireland has existed, neighbours have always supported each other, the local businesses have made an impression on us growing up, and our neighbourhoods have shaped us all.

While this may be the case for other countries, it is on another level in Ireland, where the community is deeply rooted in us all.

    9. Sense of humour − one of the famous traits

Irish people are world-renowned for their sense of humour; just look at how many incredibly successful comedians have come from Ireland.

But it’s not just comedians; every Irish person knows what it means to have fun, laugh at ourselves and share our wit with anyone who will listen. Irish humour is second to none, which is why people worldwide fall for the charm of Irish people.

    8. Resilience − stemming from our past

Just look at Ireland’s past, with its turbulence, civil wars and famine, a string of unfortunate events which made the nation stronger than ever.

Despite all the hardships, Irish people have remained extremely resilient, determined and always with a smile on their faces and a joke up their sleeve. The tremendous cultural pride comes from Ireland’s turbulent history, which was met with sheer resilience each time.

    7. Love for music − deeply rooted in us all

One of the top traits that make Irish people unique is their musical talents and their undeniable love for music. Irish people have always been great storytellers – another trait we will touch on, and music has always been a much-loved way of telling stories in Ireland.

Irish music is all around us, whether in the local pub, in the home or at community events, and a deep love for music is a trait we are proud of.

    6. Gift of storytelling − a way with words

As we mentioned, Irish people have always had a gift for storytelling, which sets us apart from other countries.

We all hold this trait dear to our hearts, and many of us have memories of specific family members who took storytelling to another level.

Ireland is well known for its literature and music, with many great Irish writers, poets and musicians telling stories in their way.

    5. Appreciation for nature − we don’t take it for granted

    A great appreciation for nature.

The connection between Irish people and their environments has substantially impacted folklore, music, literature and traditional beliefs.

Irish people don’t take the natural environment for granted since we know it is a pretty unique surrounding, which is why so many people are drawn to our country.

    4. Curious nature − it’s not nosy – it’s curious

Some might call it nosy, but we like to think of it as having an inquisitive nature, and it’s always good to be interested, meaning we are always learning.

Irish people love to ask questions and find out as much as they can to get to know you, and while this might seem strange since it is not something other nations do so easily, it is simply one of the unique Irish traits of the Irish.

There is much to be proud of when you come from Ireland; Irish people are not shy about sharing it.

From gaining independence to missionary work across the globe, the Irish people are a proud nation who try to do the best for people in need and share the culture of Ireland wherever they go.

    2. Authentic warmth − iconic Irish hospitality

You may have heard about Irish hospitality, which the country takes very seriously.

Irish people have a genuine sense of warmth and hospitality, always welcoming people to their homelands, offering help and support, and there is always a time to ‘put the kettle on’ even if you’ve just met an Irish local.

This authenticity is at the core of the Irish nation, and it is a fantastic trait to have.

You can travel worldwide and meet friendly people willing to stop for a chat out of politeness, but only in Ireland will you make lifelong friends in a heartbeat.

Irish people have a genuine interest in chatting with friends, family and even strangers. We love nothing more than having the ‘chats’.

Now that you know the unique traits of Irish people, which ones can you relate to the most?
