It’s always Sunny in Philadelphia immerses itself in Irish culture, with the comedy series’ theatrical antics including catching leprechauns and engaging in messy St Patrick’s day celebrations.

They also are famed for owning the worst Irish pub in Philadelphia. However, The Gang are finally taking the plunge for season 15, and travelling to Ireland.

It has been revealed, however, with the release of the season’s trailer that an Irish actor will feature somewhere along the way in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia.

On 10 November, the highly-anticipated season 15 trailer for the series was released by FX, giving in an insight into what’s to come.

The trailer has revealed that Irish actor Colm Meaney will guest star in It’s always Sunny in Philadelphia.

The show is actually the longest-running live-action comedy series in TV history, and now it’s Meaney’s time to shine as one of the first authentic Irish men to star on the show.

In the trailer, The Gang excitedly await their trip to Ireland.

“We’re gonna go on vacation,” says Mac (Rob McElhenney).

“Ireland, baby!” chimes in Dee (Kaitlin Olson), in a terrible Irish accent.

Charlie (Charlie Day) appears to be bonding with Meaney in the trailer. He excitedly claims, “This dude is like the Irish version of me. We’re into, like, a lot of the same stuff. Ghouls, and cheese, and … ghouls.”

Now, with the release of the teaser trailer featuring Irish actor Colm Meaney, fans are excited for what is to come. Born in Dublin, Meaney is known for playing Miles O’Brien in Star Trek: The Next Generation.

His successful career spans over five decades, featuring in many successful productions such as Law & Order, Life on Mars, and The Simpsons. Since then, he has been hailed as one of the best Irish actors of all time.

At one point, his face was even on a postage stamp.

Now, it’s safe to assume that he’ll have to deal with some ill-timed and hilarious shenanigans as he features in It’s always Sunny in Philadelphia.

Filming in Ireland? – tourist spots and Danny DeVito doubles

Some of you may remember back in August, when MovieExtras.ie posted a casting call for a “Danny DeVito Double”.

Whilst this spiralled into a trail of jokes and memes from Irish locals, this also led fans to speculate that the upcoming series was to be filmed in Ireland.

This was never confirmed. However, Olson and McElhenney hid clues in their Instagram captions, using shamrock emojis in posts. Fans also speculated that they visited the Cliffs of Moher in County Clare.

The new series of It’s always Sunny in Philadelphia will premiere on 1 December. You can watch the trailer here:
