Karen’s Diner is coming to Ireland

Karen’s Diner, best known for rude staff and terrible service, is coming to the Emerald Isle.

Karen’s Diner was launched in Australia in 2021. Now, there will be a restaurant opening in Dublin. The concept of the diner is based on the online ‘Karen’ meme that went viral a few years ago.

Staff are known for being extremely rude and delivering terrible service. According to UK business magazine The Caterer, the restaurant bosses are searching for new locations in London and Dublin.

Karen’s Café – opening in Dublin

The owners of the franchise have confirmed plans to expand further across the UK and into Ireland. The company is apparently looking to open a branch in Ireland’s capital city.

Karen’s notoriously rude Diner currently has two locations in the United Kingdom. There is one in Sheffield and one in Manchester.

The Caterer has reported that the business has plans in action for further expansion. This will include two new locations, one in London and one in Dublin.

With success in the current UK locations, we wonder how well this concept will go down in Ireland.

The concept – rude staff and terrible service

According to the official website, “Karen’s is an interactive diner and an absurdly fun experience. At Karen’s, you will be greeted and waited upon by rude waiters who in return are expecting you to give it full Karen.

“A place where you can complain until the cows come home because we literally don’t care.

“You can expect good food, good fun and a dining experience like you’ve never had before. Let us know if it’s your birthday if your name is Karen and for the love of Karen don’t ask to speak to the manager.”

Some wonder where the line is drawn in this controversial chain, as there have been incidents where staff have actually had to apologise to customers for taking it too far. However, their website clearly states, “no racism, no sexism, no homophobic comments, no body image comments, no ableist comments.”

At this stage, the new Dublin restaurant location is yet to be confirmed. As such, the date of opening is also up in the air.

However, we know that when it does open, TikTok is going to be full of people in Ireland documenting their experiences. You can check out the official Karen’s TikTok here.

So, when Karen’s Diner does open in Dublin, will you be going for the experience? Do you think it’ll go down well in Ireland? Let us know in the comments.
