Top 5 best ways to solve a problem the Irish way

Irish people are masters of solving problems, well, not exactly. Here are the best ways to solve a problem the Irish way.

It might be a stereotype that Irish people just love to avoid conflict, confrontation and, of course, problems of any kind, but as we all know, some stereotypes are hard to argue with.

When it comes to solving problems in Ireland, there are certain habits and traits most people will follow, and we are going to talk you through a handful of them below – five in particular.

It is worth noting that there are, of course, a small minority who will deal with problems head-on, and this might work for them, but as a nation, there are a few things we just love to do, to solve problems in our own way – and if it works, it works!

So, next time you encounter a sticky situation, make sure to check out these five best ways to solve a problem the Irish way.

5. Go to Mass − may God be with you

Going to mass is one of the ways to solve a problem the Irish way.

Ireland is a traditionally religious country which once had a huge attendance to regular mass services, and even though this has diminished slightly, it doesn’t change the fact that if we have a problem, the first place we go to (after the pub) is to mass to say a prayer and light a candle.

In Ireland, lighting a candle is a definitive way to bring luck, guidance, and help during a crucial time, so don’t overlook this as one of the best ways to solve a problem the Irish way.

4. Complain about it − our favourite past time

There is nothing truer than the fact that the Irish just thrive on complaining – about anything. When it comes to the best ways to solve a problem the Irish way, believe us when we say we will begin with a good old-fashioned moan to our mates.

Of course, deep down, we know this won’t ‘solve’ the problem per se, but we definitely believe it is a crucial part of the process. Complaining brings people together in Ireland, and together we can solve problems, isn’t that right?

3. Head to the pub − nothing a pint can’t fix

Heading to the pub is one of the ways to solve a problem the Irish way.

Head off to the pub and have a pint, and you’ll be sure to forget whatever problem that once needed solving.

It was once said that if God didn’t invent alcohol, then the Irish would have taken over the world. However, we believe that the Irish would probably have solved everyone’s problems. Luckily, with a few Guinness down, there will be no problems to solve.

2. Have a cup of tea − tea is the cure for everything

Having a cup of tea solves everything.

Tea isn’t a joke in Ireland, so if you have a problem or find yourself in a predicament, don’t fret; just have a cup of tea, and it’ll all be grand.

If you ever go to a friend’s place to have a chat or need to get some advice from them, you will definitely be offered a cup of tea while you sort it all out. Even if it doesn’t get sorted, sure have another cuppa; it’ll be grand! This is one of the best ways to solve a problem the Irish way.

1. Ignore it − what problem?

Yes, number one on our list of the top five best ways to solve a problem the Irish way is, of course, to bloody ignore it, sure it will go away on its own.

Irish people are notorious for just ignoring problems and wishing them away rather than being proactive and finding solutions, or better yet, foreseeing potential issues and preventing them, like other nations might be accustomed to.

In Ireland, if you don’t acknowledge there is a problem, then there isn’t one – maybe not the best idea, but it works for us.

Alas, we have reached the end, and we have certainly narrowed down the top five best ways to solve a problem the Irish way, but we are sure there are a few more that can be added to this list.

It is true that the Irish have a certain way of dealing with things, whether big or small. Most of the time, it all works out. Is it what we call the luck of the Irish, or is it the unique solutions that make everything ok? Maybe it is a bit of both!
