Let your inner ogre break free at the Shrek-themed rave coming next month.
Anyone old enough to remember 2001 will remember the hold Shrek took on the world. The awkward green ogre captured our hearts, and he never let go.
The songs ‘ I’m A Believer’ and ‘All Star’are considered anthems to the older Millennial generation.
Shrek fans will be happy to learn that a Shrek Rave is coming to Ireland. The night promises to be wacky, whimsical, and a celebration of one of the greatest film franchises of the 21st century.
The Shrek Rave hits Dublin – green dress code is very much encouraged
The Dublin date for the Shrek Rave is set for 27 May in Opium, and it promises to be an event like no other.
There will be DJs playing favourite songs from all four Shrek films, themed drinks, and spot prizes for best dressed, amongst other surprises on the night.
The event is a daytime rave and starts as early as 4 pm and runs until late, so you’ll have oodles of time to stomp around in the swamp with all the other fairytale folk. It’s safe to say that you are more than welcome to visit this particular swamp.
The Shrek Rave in Belfast – a date has also been set for Northern Ireland
Belfast residents can rest assured, as all are cordially invited to the ‘swamp’ at the Belfast Shrek Rave. It will be held at Common Market on 17 June and promises to be a night full of nostalgia.
Much like the Dublin instalment, the night promises Shrek performances, singalongs, and spot prizes, amongst other Shrek-esque surprises.
While the dress code is green, fans are encouraged to dress as their favourite character from the Shrek franchise. So whether you fancy yourself as a Gingerbread Man, a Lord Farquad or Donkey, this is the perfect place to let your fairytale freak flag fly high.
A well-travelled event – the rave has dates planned across the UK and Europe
There have been swamps galore popping up worldwide in celebration of all things Shrek. While this particular event is run by the UK branch of Shrek Rave, an American extension is touring all over the States to spread the good word of the ogre.
Upcoming European locations include Amsterdam and Budapest, so if you miss the Irish dates, you can plan a trip to attend “Far Far Away”.
