Lindsay Lohan has officially touched down in Wicklow, Ireland to shoot the upcoming Netflix rom-com Irish Wish.

In the last few weeks, Netflix had posted a casting call for a body double for Lindsay Lohan in the upcoming film.

While it wasn’t confirmed before at that time if Lohan would be starring in the film, Netflix confirmed it with a post on 1 September.

On Thursday, 31 August, the famous American actress shocked Wicklow locals when she showed up at The Bridge Tavern for a bite to eat in Wicklow town.

She happily obliged with pictures for staff and other diners. According to one diner at the restaurant, she was “so nice” to her daughter.

Sasha Hegarty Dunne told the Irish Sun, “So we were sitting at our table, and when the waitress came down, she said, ‘Lindsay Lohan is here having a meal’. We were like, ‘No way!’”

When her daughter asked if she could go and take a picture, her mother was hesitant as she didn’t want to disturb the actress. However, when they went over and asked for a picture, Lohan took the kids outside and took a selfie with them.

    The movie – Irish Wish

The official synopsis of the movie shared by Netflix goes as follows, “When the love of her life gets engaged to her best friend, Maddie puts her feelings aside to be a bridesmaid at their wedding in Ireland.

“Days before the pair are set to marry, Maddie makes a spontaneous wish for true love, only to wake up as the bride-to-be. With her dream seeming to come true, Maddie soon realizes that her real soulmate is someone else entirely.”

Sounds quite reminiscent of Freaky Friday, doesn’t it? Only this time, instead of a parent-daughter body switch, Maddie, played by Lohan, has her whole world altered. Shooting began on the movie yesterday, 5 September, and will run through to 14 October.

Locations will include Dublin, Bray Head, Killruddery House and Gardens, Lough Tay in the Wicklow Mountains, the Cliffs of Moher and even more locations throughout the country!

A double-deal with Netflix – Falling for Christmas and Irish Wish

Irish Wish is one of a two-movie-deal that Lohan has signed with Netflix. The other movie is Falling for Christmas, which she stars in alongside Chord Overstreet. This will be her return to film after several years away from the big screen.

Irish Wish will see Lindsay Lohan teaming up with director Janeen Damian once more. While it was hoped the movie would be ready for the festive season this year, it’s more likely it will be released in early-to-mid 2023.
