Just shy of the top spot, the Irish accent was voted the second most attractive accent, according to science. Read on to find out which accents rounded out the top five.
Irish accent voted one of the most attractive – taking the number two spot
While we recognise that there are more accents than just the one “Irish accent” across Ireland, this study seems to have ranked the accents off in a more general way.
It comes as no surprise that the Irish accent was voted one of the most attractive, as people around the world are quite partial to it.
However, this time around, the Irish accent comes in at number two. With 86 percent of people finding it attractive, the Scottish accent was ranked as the most attractive, according to science.
The top five accents and more – the Irish accent was pipped at the post
Rounding out the rest of the top five most attractive accents was Italian at number three, French at number four, and Spanish at number five.
Some people took to the comments to question Scotland taking the number one spot, with one user saying, “Definitely never heard the Aberdeen voice note man”. However, many people were also in agreement with the verdict.
As an Australian podcast, the Two Broke Chicks also commented on how the Australian accent ranked at number eight, with only 35 percent of people finding it attractive.
They also expressed shock that the British accent wasn’t higher on the list as it came in at number seven, with 47 percent of people finding it attractive. In this case, she is referring to an English accent, as the Scottish accent has already been discussed.
Other things that are attractive according to science – hair colour, careers, and personality traits
The women went on to discuss other things that are attractive according to science, like hair colour. 67 percent of the men in the study prefer brunette hair, while 70 percent of women prefer men with brunette hair.
They then went on to discuss the most attractive careers for men and women and the most attractive personality traits.
