The gangland drama TV show titled Love/Hate was an Irish television series which aired on RTÉ Television. The popular crime series aired between the years 2010 and 2014.

The plot of the show focused on telling the tale of fictional characters as they navigated Dublin’s murky criminal underworld.

Since beginning to air on the UK streaming platform ITVX recently, it has generated rave reviews and earned itself many new fans.

    Love/Hate – Ireland’s greatest television show

Love/Hate was primarily filmed on location in Dublin, with some specific scenes being shot in bordering counties.

During its initial release, the show’s popularity grew exponentially, with the third season of the show regularly drawing close to one million viewers, which, given Ireland’s small population, is an impressive feat.

Not only was the TV show successful in Ireland but also on an international scale. In Ireland, the show won an impressive eight Irish Film & Television Awards (IFTAs), and it was successful enough to be picked up for syndication in various countries throughout the world.

The cast of Love/Hate includes many recognisable actors. For many of them, the Irish crime drama was one of their first major roles.

Some of the most notable actors to appear in the series include Robert Sheehan as Darren, Tom Vaughan-Lawlor as Nidge, Charlie Murphy as Siobhán Delaney, Ruth Negga as Rosie, and Aidan Gillen as John-Boy.

A young Barry Keoghan even makes an appearance, before he was the household name he is today.

How amazing are you, Robert Sheehan in Love/Hate – what a fantastic series! Only just discovered it – absolutely brilliant all ways round! Best thing I’ve watched in recent times since Peaky Blinders and Top Boy! ✊

ITVX is a British ad-supported video-on-demand streaming service operated by ITV. The service offers a combination of original content from the broadcaster, as well as a variety of licensed and exclusive programming.

Since the introduction of Love/Hate on ITVX, the show has earned itself a huge amount of fans and a lot of praise.

One fan wrote on X: “What a fantastic series! Only just discovered it – absolutely brilliant all ways round! Best thing I’ve watched in recent times since Peaky Blinders and Top Boy!”

A second fan shared: “If you’ve never seen the Irish drama series Love/Hate then watch it – absolutely brilliant! Like Peaky B meets Top Boy meets The Wire meets Breaking Bad and then some… on ITVX and BritBox – a proper binge watch!”

Another fan said: “Make sure you check out Love/Hate if you haven’t already. Aiden Gillen [sic.] again is superb in this as well as Robert Sheehan and a young Barry Keoghan.”
