The return of Lindsay Lohan, a suitably cheesy rom-com storyline, and a quaint Irish setting; what more could you want? Here’s everything we know so far about Irish Wish.

First look at new Lindsay Lohan movie Irish Wish.

Ireland has certainly made a name for itself in the global film scene with hits such as Leap Year, Brooklyn, and Saving Private Ryan all featuring scenes filmed across the island.

Adding to its reputation, early 90s icon Lindsay Lohan is having her Irish debut with the upcoming romantic comedy Irish Wish. Set to make you laugh and cry out loud, we can’t wait to see what this one has in store.

Set to hit Netflix next month, we’re excited to see what LiLo has in store. If you feel the same, here is everything we know so far about the new Lindsay Lohan movie Irish Wish.

The plot – no spoilers, please

In true LiLo style, Irish Wish sounds like a proper classic early noughties rom-com. A mix of Leap Year meets Just My Luck meets Freaky Friday, Lohan stars as quiet book editor Maddie Kelly, who embarks on a journey to find love by learning to love herself first.

A classic tale of luck and romance with a little sprinkling of the supernatural, Irish Wish takes many twists and turns throughout that you simply would not expect.

Quoted in a press release, Lohan explained, “She (Maddie) has been ghostwriting for the writer she works for and she’s hopelessly in love with him, and she’s expecting him to love her back.”

However, when reciprocated feelings prove elusive, Maddie decides to take things into her own hands. And this is where the fun begins…

Irish Wish – the latest Lindsay Lohan movie filmed in Ireland

Part of a two-picture deal with streaming platform Netflix, Lohan teamed up with director Janeen Damian, whom she worked with on Falling for Christmas. So, if you’ve seen that cheerful festive romance, you might have an idea of what to expect from Irish Wish.

“It’s a nice story of luck and love and confidence,” Lohan states, explaining that the role brought with it some fresh challenges. “Maddie’s (one of the only) characters that I’ve played who is a woman on her own making her way in the world.

“We shaped her in a way that she was a bit more insecure in the beginning, and then she grows throughout the movie, and by the end, she really comes into her own”.

An all-star cast – with some epic Irish locations

Featuring alongside Lohan is an all-star cast with big names such as Ed Speleers (You), Alexander Vlahos (Outlander), Jane Seymour (Wedding Crashers), Elizabeth Tan (Emily in Paris), and Ayesha Curry (About Last Night).

The cast all travelled to Ireland to film for the movie, enjoying the stunning rolling hills of County Wicklow. A truly romantic location, it’s not hard to feel the love when you’re exploring the hills of this beautiful spot on the east coast of Ireland.

As with many, Lohan’s family tree traces back to the Emerald Isle, and she was excited about the chance to explore her heritage while filming for Irish Wish.

She said, “Ireland’s so beautiful. I’d never been, but my grandfather’s from there. We stayed in this little town called Dalkey. The people are so nice, and the Guinness pies were amazing.”

The movie is due for release on Netflix on 15 March, to get you in the Irish spirit just in time for St. Patrick’s Day.
