There are many songs we can expect to hear at an Irish wedding, and here are some of the best that make the day a memorable one.

If you’ve ever been to an Irish wedding, chances are you’ve heard one or all of these songs on the many Irish couple’s wedding playlists out there.

However, it seems that these songs were made for weddings, ensuring that those who vow not to step foot on the dancefloor spend the entire night living their best life with family and friends offering up their best dance moves to wow the crowd.

Where would we be without these ten best Irish wedding songs? Let’s see how many you can recognise!

    10. Brown Eyed Girl – a favourite of many

There won’t be a wedding guest in the room who doesn’t know this song by Van Morrisson, making it one of the best Irish wedding songs to play on the night. Its easy lyrics and catchy beat make it a definite wedding favourite among many newly married couples.

    9. Danny Boy – a traditional Irish ballad

At any Irish wedding, chances are many will look forward to a good old-fashioned traditional Irish ballad, and this is it. ‘Danny Boy’ is a fantastic song. It’s one that many people can sing along to, dance to, or even just sway side-to-side to while holding a pint. It’s one we all love!

    8. My Wild Irish Rose – one of the best Irish wedding songs

What is an Irish wedding without a Daniel O’Donnell song? This has to be one of the best Irish wedding songs; even if it’s only the older generation who will enjoy it, it’s got to be done.

It might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but we love nothing more than seeing the older family members having some fun.

    7. When You Say Nothing at All – the cheesy hit we all can’t deny

Since this Ronan Keating hit was made famous when it was featured in the movie Notting Hill, it has appeared on many Irish wedding playlists around the country.

The song perfectly fits the ambience of a wedding, and despite being a little cheesy, we cannot help but sing along.

    6. Come on Eileen – the crowd pleaser

Everyone knows this song, and many Irish couples choose it for their wedding playlist. This crowd pleaser is undoubtedly a surefire way to get even the shyest people on their feet, even if that means a little bit of peer pressure or a baby Guinness is needed.

    5. The Sweetest Thing – the lovey-dovey song

This classic U2 song is one of the best Irish wedding songs, which makes it to many playlists. It is generally played towards the beginning of the reception when love is in the air, everyone is merry, but the drunk party atmosphere hasn’t kicked in yet.

    4. Galway Girl – the song to bring the vibes

One of the best ways to get the crowd going at reception is to play a song with a catchy chorus that everyone will know and love – one of them is ‘Galway Girl’.

This has to be one of the best Irish wedding songs ever. It’s one that brings strangers together in song and sometimes even dance.

    3. Livin’ on a Prayer – the one we all love to sing

This Bon Jovi classic is one that we have all heard at one time or another at an Irish wedding, and no matter how hard we try, we just cannot help but surrender to this catchy ballad, which gets every group in the mood to party.

    2. Rock the Boat – can it get any more Irish?

Does this song really need an explanation? Well, for those who have not taken part in the boat experience, let us tell you what it is.

Rocking the Boat is uniquely Irish, where everyone sits on the floor in a conga line, rocking side to side as the classic song plays in the background.

    1. Maniac 2000 – the end of the night classic

No wedding playlist is complete without the last banger of the night, which will get everyone on the dancefloor with the last bit of energy they have left – and let’s face it, we always have the energy to enjoy this classic Irish club track.
